Our story
Riverwood Custom is run by two brothers, Mike and Ricky Turner, out of a shop in Leominster, Massachusetts.
Mike came to woodworking the long way around — roughly fifteen years in finance before enrolling in the Cabinet and Furniture Making program at North Bennet Street School in Boston. His work has been featured in Fine Woodworking, and a custom piece of his took Best in Show at the Fine Furnishings Show in Providence.
The shop today sits at the intersection of two things that do not usually share a building: bench-built furniture standards and real digital fabrication capacity. A Morbidelli CNC and a laser engraver handle repetition and precision; the two of us handle everything the machines cannot.
We stay small deliberately. You talk to the person quoting your job, the person cutting it, and the person delivering it — and there are only two of us, so that is a short list.
How we work
Nothing gets cut twice
Every job is modeled before a bit touches material. You see it, you approve it, then it runs. That is how a two-person shop keeps a schedule.
A number, not a range
Shop rate and material markup are the same for everyone. Quotes are fixed unless the scope changes, and we tell you before it does.
Materials chosen for the job
Marine HDPE for outdoor furniture, quality plywood for casework, solid stock where it shows. We will tell you when a cheaper material is the right call.
